College baseball rankings: 2023 top 25 poll

Conference play is seemingly making everything that much more high stakes this year.

With surprising conference sweeps and upsets across the board, like Texas Tech winning its series vs. Oklahoma State, LSU remained steadfast in dropping just one of its games over the weekend and held onto the No. 1 ranking yet again.

Key game last week: Missouri 7, Tennessee 4. It really wasn’t just the first game of a Sunday doubleheader that was most impressive about Missouri, it was the entire weekend in which it swept the then No. 2 team in the country. This is the Tigers’ just seventh three-game series sweep since joining the conference 10 years ago, and it’s got to give them some confidence. Tennessee will have to regroup and figure out what needs adjusting with a weekend series at Texas A&M coming up.

Key game to watch: Arkansas at LSU on Friday March 24 (7 p.m. ET on ESPN2). This game is sure to be one of the most entertaining games of the season with the No. 5 team in the country visiting the No. 1 team. With SEC conference play underway, both teams are starting to be tested, which was evident in LSU dropping its season finale with Texas A&M to end its 13-game win streak. Arkansas on the other hand is riding a 12-game win streak after sweeping Auburn. But with power on both sides heading into this weekend, it’s anyone’s series.

Key player to watch: Jared Wegner, Arkansas. Wegner has 9 home runs so far this season, and he hit an absolute bomb against Auburn over the weekend that went 470 feet!! He transferred from Creighton this year, and he’s already showing our big for the Hogs. Can he do something just as highlight worthy against LSU?

Play of the week: Oregon’s Matt Dallas gave it his all on this play, even after losing his glove.
